Uttarakhand Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh has directed the Public Works Department (PWD) to carry out repair and maintenance of roads in the state. The prolonged monsoon and heavy rains caused extensive damage to the roads and now as the monsoon had come to an end, the maintenance and repair of roads should be taken on priority, the Chief Minister said.

Casting inaugurated for Rs 2,400 cr bridge in Patna
In Patna, inauguration of the casting for 4.5-km-long rail-cum-road bridge at Digha was fulfilled by ECR GM Madhuresh Kumar at the bridge site in the city September 14. Railways has completed the launching of 22nd span of 123 metre girder of the rail-cum-road bridge so far. This bridge will have 9.075 metre carriageway width of road and 1.5 metre wide pathway on either side.

Blore complex owner to give 7,000 sqft land for road work
Owner of a commercial complex in Bangalore's busy Majestic area, has reportedly agreed to part with 7,000 -square-foot land, for road widening near Shantala Silk Junction, near the city railway and Kempegowda Bus-station area. The narrow bend near the Shantala Silk Junction is resulting in traffic congestion at peak hours. Kota-Jhalawar h’way project prevented
The proposed four-laning of national highway project between Kota and Jhalawar by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has been foreclosed. Govt mulls rescue plan for highway-project defaulters
The Union government, upset by several jammed highway projects, plans to re-negotiate contracts worth Rs 99,000 crore with some of the private developers to give them payment concessions, instead of imposing penalties. The government's grand rescue plan, billed as a one-time measure, is in the final stages of approval and involves 23 concessionaires (the private parties) and a total project cost of Rs 34,000 crore ($5.2 billion).

Kozhikode roads to be repaired at Rs 72 cr within 15 days
In Kozhikode district of Kerala, about 1,000 km of roads that were damaged due to the recent rains will be repaired on a war-footing within the next 15 days by spending Rs 72 crore. The State government has doubled the fund allocated to carry out the repair works from Rs 36.7 crore to Rs 72 crore considering the extensive damage caused by this year's monsoon on the district's roads.

Govt plans to cut road toll to developers if project is delayed
Road developers who are collecting toll from impending road projects without completing them will be barred to collect such toll by the Union government soon.
