Plea to clear hindrances in elevated expressway in Chennai
The Tamil Nadu government should take steps to remove obstacles in the completion of the stalled Chennai Port - Maduravoyal Elevated Expressway, DMK and PMK parties in the state have demanded. DMK said that it would hold a demonstration on August 17 to demand that obstacles in the completion of the Expressway be cleared and the government extend its full support to the project.

Jetpur-Somnath highway-8D to be widened into 4-lane
In Gujarat, the Jetpur-Somnath Section of National Highway (NH)- 8D is being converted into four lane under NHDP Phase-III by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Four laning of Bhavnagar-Veraval Section and two lane paved shoulder/four laning of Gadu Dwarka section of NH-8E is scheduled to be completed in September, 2015.

The Uttar Pradesh government has sanctioned Rs 4.5 crore for construction and repair of roads near the new campus of Lucknow University. The State PWD Minister Shivpal Yadav, who visited the campus of the University, directed the Nirman Nigam officials to start construction of the science building which has been lying incomplete for past three years.
Bihar highways to be upgraded at $300 mn ADB loan
To upgrade 254 kilometres of highways, which are in a very bad condition in northern and southern Bihar, the Union government has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for $300 million additional loan. The additional financing for the ongoing Bihar State Highways-II Project will widen the sections of existing four highways to two lanes, build and maintain bridges and repair the pavements.
Uniform toll policy prevails in country: Minister
There is a uniform policy for levying and collection of user toll for highways in the country, said Sarvey Sathyanarayana, the Minister of State of Road Transport and Highways in Lok Sabha recently. According to him, the Union government has notified the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates & Collection) Rules, 2008 on December 5 in 2008, as amended from time to time, for the projects taken up on or after 05.12.2008.
