The Tamil Nadu government should take steps to remove obstacles in the completion of the stalled Chennai Port - Maduravoyal Elevated Expressway, DMK and PMK parties in the state have demanded. Bihar highways to be upgraded at $300 mn ADB loan

To upgrade 254 kilometres of highways, which are in a very bad condition in northern and southern Bihar, the Union government has signed an agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for $300 million additional loan. The additional financing for the ongoing Bihar State Highways-II Project will widen the sections of existing four highways to two lanes, build and maintain bridges and repair the pavements.

Uniform toll policy prevails in country: Minister

There is a uniform policy for levying and collection of user toll for highways in the country, said Sarvey Sathyanarayana, the Minister of State of Road Transport and Highways in Lok Sabha recently. According to him, the Union government has notified the National Highways Fee (Determination of Rates & Collection) Rules, 2008 on December 5 in 2008, as amended from time to time, for the projects taken up on or after 05.12.2008.
