Karnataka government is reportedly in the process of acquiring land for the proposed six-laning of the Bangalore-Mysore highway, which is currently a four-lane stretch. The state Public works department would place the proposal for the project before the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The existing 4-lane stretch is not sufficient to carry about 70,000 vehicles that ferry through the route daily

Consultancy firm LEA Associates recommended L&T Hyderabad Metro Rail to take up longer span works at junctions going up to 34 metre or about 112 feet with segmental construction. Nod to two-laning of Uniara-Gulabpura NH in Rajasthan
For two-laning with paved shoulders (PS) of a key highway in Rajasthan, the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has given its approval. The project is the two laning of the Uniara-Nainwa-Hindoli-Jahajpur-Shahpura-Gulabpura section of NH-148D in the state under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase IV, on engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) basis. The cost is estimated to be Rs 774.33 crore.
Maha to engage experts to monitor safety on highways
The Maharashtra Ministry of Road Transport and Highways will engage independent experts or national project monitors who will prepare project reports and also conduct quality checks when the road projects are being implemented, apart from monitoring road safety.
The Ministry, in a memorandum issued last month, said that apart from complaints about poor quality of construction of roads, it has also been receiving complaints from road users about the poor quality of services provided by agencies
BRO takes up rehabilitation in flood jolted U’khand
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has take up a massive road rehabilitation programme in the entire Uttarakhand area. To put all efforts in correct perspective, it is said that in the entire Uttarakhand as per assessment made, a total of about 13 km length of road at 100 places have been breached. Major slides have occurred at 110 places and nine bridges have either been washed out or damaged. BRO has pressed in to service more than 90 excavators and Bull dozers.
IDBI Bank raps project developer for delay in KMP e’way
In a rare instance of plainspeak by a banker, IDBI Bank, the lead lender of the Rs 2,000-crore western peripheral expressway, has blamed the developer's lack of commitment for the project being delayed by over four years with no completion in sight. The developer has strongly refuted charges of lack of commitment on its part.
