To repair potholed damaged roads in Hyderabad-Secunderabad twin cities, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has set a deadline of October 10 for its engineers and contractors concerned. GHMC has estimated the repairs to cost Rs 15 crore. Forts it will take all the main corridors and main city roads immediately for the repair works. Later, inner lanes and by-lanes will be taken up.

Odisha gives priority to SHDP
Odisha government has directed its Works Department to prioritise the State Highway Development Programme (SHDP) to push up infrastructural development in the state. The State Chief Secretary Jugal Kishore Mohapatra has asked Department to give priority to road projects in LWE districts in the state.
Aundh-Ravet road in Pimpri Chinchwad to get underpass
In Maharashtra, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is to build an underpass at the busy Y-junction where Wakad Road meets Aundh-Ravet Road, which would make the junction free of traffic signals. The civic body is to spend Rs 14.27 crore on the construction of the underpass.
Varanasi roads may get a face-lift by Oct
In Uttar Pradesh, the Varanasi district administration has given the UP Jal Nigam (UPJN) a deadline of this month of September-end to complete its road digging and pipeline laying works in Varanasi city to facilitate road works to be done by Dussehra festival, which will commence from October 5.
Contractors asked to repair re-laid roads in Chennai
The re-laid roads in the past three years in Chennai city have already been damaged. Haryana gets green signal for major road projects
The Union government has okayed major road projects in Haryana including a six-lane flyover along the national highway-8, construction of flyover at Bahalgarh Chowk and widening of a bridge near Rasoi village in Sonepat district, said the State Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on September 18.
Odisha to improve 2,158 km highways at Rs 3,000 cr
During the current 12th Plan period, the Odisha government has set a target to improve 2,158 km of State Highways to two-lane standards with a planned cost of Rs 3,000 crore.
Design okayed for signal-free ride on Noida road
To ensure signal-free ride on Noida city's 4.8 km-long elevated road, the Noida Authority has approved the design, Master Plan Road-II. The elevated road is one of the city's busiest road. Thousands of commuters on the elevated road are expected to benefit from implementation of the Plan, especially those in Sectors-30, 27, 26, 25, 31, 33, 23, 52, 58 and 61. Commuters now face long snarls, especially during peak hours.
Govt to set up panel to track progress of e’way projects
To track progress of expressway projects, the Union government is to set up a monitoring committee. The move follows when the government found lacking in multiple aspects of three road projects, which were put on fast track by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The Prime Minister's Office had taken note of this and decided to set up the panel.
