To prevent India's image from being dented in the global market, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry may issue a guidance to release all Kingfisher Airlines aircraft parked at Indian airports to international leasing companies. The move comes in the wake of growing disquiet among major leasing companies over India's refusal to hand over the aircraft and fears that much-needed aircraft finance would be stopped to Indian airline companies.

Air India Express fleet to get 15 more aircraft
As part of the turnaround plan of Air India, 15 more aircraft would be added in the fleet of the State-owned carrier Air India Express (AIE), Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh said on March 7. The turnaround plan of Air India of which AIE is a subsidiary, envisages increase in the fleet strength of AIE from the present 21 to 36 aircraft by March 2018, he told the Rajya Sabha.
Rs 33,000 cr earmarked to buy aircraft, aeroengines
The Union government has earmarked more than Rs 33,000 crore for acquiring aircraft and aero-engines from the Rs 86,000 crore modernisation budget for the forces. The Indian defence forces are planning to finalise major deals such as the one for 126 Rafale combat aircraft.
Aviation sector not satisfied with budget 2013-14
CII's National Committee on Civil Aviation expressed dissatisfaction over the Union Budget 2013-14 as it feels that the budget has not done enough to boost the aviation sector. Even as it welcomed the the concessions granted to the MRO (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) sector, it noted that MRO industry is "small right now taking the aircraft population into account
Govt allows IndiGo to import aircraft
The Government has approved the proposal of the Delhi-based low cost airline, IndiGo to import 11 aircraft. Sources indicated that IndiGo has been given a No Objection Certificate to import 11 Airbus A-320 aircraft. The import of aircraft is first approved by the Aircraft Acquisition Committee (ACC) in the Ministry of Civil Aviation first after which the proposal is cleared by the approving authority, the Minister for Civil Aviation before actual import is allowed.
AirAsia expects to start JV operation by 4th quarter
By the fourth quarter of 2013, AirAsia expects to start operation of its proposed low-cost airline in a joint venture with Tata Group and Arun Bhatia of Telestra Tradeplace.
