In India, Zydex Technologies is looking to build up to 20,000 km of moisture-resistant green roads by 2016 using its nanotechnology. Such roads need no maintenance for about 15 years. The company has already completed about 500 km of roads in India with Border Roads Organisation and other agencies, the company said. Zydex has already built such highways in US, Europe and Africa.

In Uttarakhand, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is striving to rebuild the roads in flood affected areas. BRO is continuing with its efforts of opening the road network in Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh. BRO has pressed in to service about 130 excavators and bulldozers. Despite bad weather BRO has kept open both the main axis i.e. Rishikesh to Uttarkashi and Rishikesh - Joshimath – Govindghat in Uttarakhand.
BRO takes up rehabilitation in flood jolted U’khand
Border Roads Organisation (BRO) has take up a massive road rehabilitation programme in the entire Uttarakhand area. To put all efforts in correct perspective, it is said that in the entire Uttarakhand as per assessment made, a total of about 13 km length of road at 100 places have been breached. Major slides have occurred at 110 places and nine bridges have either been washed out or damaged. BRO has pressed in to service more than 90 excavators and Bull dozers.
