As the 100 agreement labourers involved in moving containers to and from the DP World-operated International Container Transshipment Terminal (ICTT) in Kochi went on a strike from late afternoon on December 23. As a result, container movement at the ICTT has come to a standstill.

‘ICTT operations should be entrusted to Cochin port’
The agreement between Cochin Port Trust and DP World for developing and operating the Vallarpadam International Container Terminal (ICTT) should be reviewed, say speakers at a seminar in Kochi on October 17. The seminar, ‘Salvage Sinking Cochin Port’ was organised by the Cochin Voice, in Kochi.

DP World signs concession agreement with JNPT for gateway terminal
DP World and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trus (JNPT) held a ceremonial signing of the concession awarded to DP World to construct and operate a new container terminal at the port. DP World received the Letter of Award for the new Nhava Sheva (India) Gateway Terminal project in November last year.
DP World to invest $200 mn to build JNPT terminal
To build a new container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port in India, DP World will invest about $200m., DP World has said. The world's third largest port operator will build the terminal next to the Nhava Sheva International Container Terminal (NSICT), which DP World currently operates. The new 330-metre berth with 27 hectares of yard will add 800,000 TEUs (twenty foot equivalent container units) of container capacity and help ease congestion at Jawaharlal Nehru Port.

Following the resolution of environment issues, DP World would sign concession agreement with the Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) for setting up a 800,000 TEU container terminal.
