In Jammu and Kashmir, the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to inaugurate the Mughal Road later this month. However, the work on the historical road project connecting Border Districts of Poonch and Rajouri with Kashmir is not fully complete. The Prime Minister is scheduled to inaugurate the road on June 25.

Opening of Mughal road to pep up Kashmir economy
As militancy in the Kashmir Valley has come down considerably, the 472-year-old Mughal road is opened to the public. Opening of the road will not only facilitate the movement of people and goods within the state to the benefit of social and economic life, but can also be a tourist attraction.
Study of Mughal road tunnel in J & K is on
The Jammu and Kashmir Government has said that a proposed tunnel on the Mughal Road between Zaznar and Chattapani to keep the road open round the year, was under survey. A tunnel is proposed on the 84-km Bafliaz-Shopain road between Zaznar and Chattapani to keep the road open round the year, the State Minister for Roads and Buildings, Abdul Majeed Wani, said in the Legislative Council in Jammu on March 25.
