LNG terminal in Mangalore
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M Veerappa Moily has stated that work on the new LNG import terminal at Mangalore will begin in next November. A feasibility study on the terminal is being carried out by a consortium of ONGC, BPCL, Mitsui and New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT). The planned LNG terminal is with a capacity of 2-3 million tonne per annum.

Pradeep Mohanty as Deputy Conservator of New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT). Mohanty joined NMPT as Harbour Master on November 10 2008 and subsequently he was holding the additional charges of Deputy Conservator with effect from December 3, 2008.

NMPT achieves 15.8% in cargo handling in H1
In the first six months of the current fiscal, the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has recorded a growth of 15.78 per cent in cargo handling. The port handled 19.37 million tonne of cargo during April-September of 2013-14, against 16.73 million tonne in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, the port said.

To strengthen it infrastructure, New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has taken two major decisions. The two decisions are: Finalisation of bids for constructing the berth No 18, and procuring two mobile harbour cranes. The proposed berth No 18 is likely to add a capacity of 5 million tonne per annum to the cargo handling at the port.

New Mangalore port receives 9 bids for building new berth
Nine bids have been received by the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) for the construction of berth handling bulk cargo and containers. September 5 was the last date for submitting the bids. Nine companies have submitted the bids and the proposed berth will handle bulk cargo and containers.
