ABB energises transformer at world record voltage level of 1.2 million volts
ABB has developed, manufactured and energised a 1,200-kilovolt (kV) ultrahigh voltage power transformer to support India´s plans to build a 1,200 kV transmission system, supplementing the existing 400 kV and 800 kV transmission grid as demand for electricity increases.
Investors would love to invest in India if we get our act right
There are mainly three reasons. First and the most immediate one is government departments are not paying in time. For instance, NHAI dues are aggregating upwards of Rs 25,000 crore. Some are disputed and others are not. If you ask NHAI they will deny any payments are due, but that is not the [right] answer. The government will need to be practical, in that somebody has done the work and money has been spent.
PowerGrid sub-stations to be remote-controlled
By 2013, all PowerGrid sub-stations will be remotely controlled by the National Transmission Asset Management Centre at Manesar, said RN Nayak, Chairman and Managing Director, PowerGrid. There will be cameras observing the functioning of devices and equipment and the stations will be virtually managed remotely, he said, adding that having eight persons per sub-station was a waste of manpower.
Sibal asked to seek nod from Plan panel
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee asked Telecom Minister Kapil Sibal to seek cleaÂrance from Planning Commission for allocating funds to National Optical Fibre Network (NOFN) project under nonPlan category.Telecom minister requested finance ministry to allocate funds for NOFN from nonPlan side to mitigate chances of delays in funding for the scheme which involves approval at various levels.
