The north division of the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Maharashtra government is undertaking construction of roads, bridges, hospital buildings and other civic infrastructure projects. The division, which is headed by executive engineer Satish Chikhlikar, was allocated an annual sum of Rs 40 crore in 2012-13. NHAI to award 4,000 km of roads in FY14
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to award up to 4,000 km of roads through EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) contracts in 2013-14, largely to overcome the funding issues in the BOT –– build, operate and transfer –– contracts. The authority still has to chart a plan for the BOT segment that generated a meek response from the companies.
TN to form Authority like NHAI to up its roads’ standard
For maintaining and managing its roads at par with global standards, Tamil Nadu government is to form Tamil Nadu State Highways Authority (TNSHA) on the lines of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI).
The formation of the Authority will be followed by entrusting major State Highways to the TNSHA, said the State Finance Minister O Panneerselvam while presenting the State Budget.
UP strives to develop road infrastructure
The major focus of the Uttar Pradesh government has been on developing the state's infrastructure, particularly in rural areas. This included construction of roads, highways, flyovers and railway overbridges in various districts.
