The Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA) is preparing to float tenders for the proposed 7.4 km flyover from Batanagar to Jinjirabazar on Budge Budge Trunk Road in the city. The project has been stuck for years. Now the Centre has finally cleared the projeect, the State Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim, who is also the KMDA Chairman, said.
The flyover project has been cleared under the Centre’s JNNURM scheme. Hakim said that the State government has placed the papers with the Finance Department.
The authorities had earlier engaged a consulting agency to prepare a feasibility report. The authorities have pegged the cost of executing the 7.4 km two-lane elevated corridor with approach flanks at about Rs 250 crore.
