The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has signed Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs) with 12 countries during the last three years, in addition to the signing of letter of intend and joint declaration of intend with Egypt and Germany, to enhance cooperation in the sector, according to a written reply to the Lok Sabha by Piyush Goyal, Power, Coal and, Renewable Energy Minister. Goyal further informed that joint research work has been initiated by the National Institute of Solar Energy (India), and Fraunhofer Institute fur Solary Energiesysteme (ISE), Germany, in the area of solar and wind resource mapping; while joint research work on wind energy forecasting and development of monitoring system for energy reception elements in solar thermal plants has been initiated with the Centre for Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI), Spain. India has the potential of producing 8,96,602 MW from renewable energy sources.
