Rail Vikas Nigam Ltd (RVNL) has consistently delivered landmark rail infrastructure projects to transform India’s connectivity landscape, Satish Kumar, Chairman & CEO, Railway Board, Ministry of Railways, has said.

“RVNL has delivered over 17,000 km of railway infrastructure, with cumulative project execution exceeding ₹2 trillion, significantly strengthening connectivity and capacity expansion across the country,” Kumar noted at the Navratna PSU’s 21st annual day in New Delhi on April 10.

He praised landmark projects such as the New Pamban Bridge, describing it as “a remarkable engineering marvel and India’s first vertical‑lift railway sea bridge, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” Kumar also highlighted RVNL’s pioneering special purpose vehicle (SPV) and public-private partnership (PPP)‑led execution model and metro developments, including the Kolkata Metro connectivity stretch.

“RVNL has expanded its global footprint across Maldives, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Rwanda, and is undertaking major engineering works in the Himalayan region, including the Rishikesh-Karna Prayag Rail Link and extensive twin‑tube tunnelling works,” he added.

Kumar emphasised RVNL’s expansion into sustainability‑led and technology‑driven infrastructure, citing green construction practices, 3D printing, renewable energy projects, the Vande Bharat Sleeper train programme, and entry into digital infrastructure through the Bharat Net contract.

Vivek Kumar Gupta, Member (Infrastructure), Railway Board, said, “RVNL has evolved from a modest beginning into a diversified and benchmark‑setting institution within the Indian Railways ecosystem. It has consistently introduced new initiatives and expanded beyond railway engineering into multiple infrastructure domains.” He described the tunnelling work in the Himalayan terrain as “an engineering marvel in the making.”

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, Minister of State Ravneet Singh, and Minister of State V Somanna also extended their best wishes to RVNL for its commendable performance and contribution to national infrastructure.
