The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the implementation of a scheme for setting up of 750 mw of grid-connected solar PV power projects under Batch-1 of Phase-11 (2013-17) of the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission (JNNSM) with Viability Gap Funding (VGF) support from the National Clean Energy Fund (NCEF).

Air services to Rameswaram, Kanyakumari
Experts say air connectivity to tourist spots like Kanyakumari, RamĂÂeswaram in the country will improve the growth of such tourism centres. As per a proposal of the Union Civil Aviation MinistryĂâs proposal, one can expect a 20-seater or a 40-seater passenger aircraft to land in a civilian airport in Kanyakumari or RamĂÂeswaram.
State Bank of Mysore to open 101 branches
Subsidiary of State-owned SBI, State Bank of Mysore (SBM) will open 101 branches in the country on October 5 to commemorate its centenary celebrations this year. It will open seven new branches in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts of Karnataka on October 5.

Rashtriya Ispat to invest Rs 60,000 cr to up capacity
To triple its capacity to 20 million tonne by 2027, the government-owned steelmaker Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) or Vizag Steel in Visakhapatnam/Vizag is planning to invest Rs 60,000 crore. RINL is in the process of stabilising new units under the current phase of expansion that got delayed by over a year following an accident at its Vizag plant.

Riverine port planned in Odisha
To set up a riverine port, the Odisha government has drawn up a plan. The proposed riverine port is the first of its kind in Odisha and it is to be built on the public private partnership (PPP) mode. However, the exact spot for the project is yet to be finalised by the State.
Dry dock facility to come up at Chennai Port
Media reports say that a dry dock facility will be developed by the Chennai Port Trust (ChPT) at its century-old boat basin and timber pond that would cater to smaller ships. The timber pond and boat basin in Chennai Port are located in the southwest ending of inner harbour (Ambedkar dock) created about 100 years ago.
Belgium may consider to build a new Indian port
Responding to President Pranab Mukherjee's suggestion to develop a new port near Kolkata, Belgium on October 3 assured the Indian government that it would look into the President's suggestion. The two countries have discussed cooperation in new areas like port management.
