A steel plant with a capacity of 1 million tonne has been planned by Godawari Power and Ispat at a cost of Rs 4,500 crore in Rajnandgaon district in Chhattisgarh. The company is a subsidiary of Raipur-based Hira Group. It is now doing feasibility studies for setting up the project.

Rajasthan to get refinery-cum petrochemical complex
The Union Cabinet has recently approved the proposal of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (HPCL), a Public Sector Undertaking to set up a 9 mmtpa greenfield Refinery cum Petrochemical Complex in Barmer District in Rajasthan, as a Joint Venture (JV) with Government of Rajasthan under the name HPCL-Rajasthan Refinery Limited( HRRL).

Vizag port exhibits new facilities to dealers
To market its new facilities developed for quick discharge of cargo the Visakhapatnam port conducted a tradersĂâ meeting in the city on October 1. The port is undergoing huge mechanisation. The port requested the East Coast Railway (ECR) to expedite the electrification of yards within the port and augmentation of connectivity beyond port to cope with the increase in traffic at the port in view of ongoing mechanisation work.
NMPT achieves 15.8% in cargo handling in H1
In the first six months of the current fiscal, the New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) has recorded a growth of 15.78 per cent in cargo handling. The port handled 19.37 million tonne of cargo during April-September of 2013-14, against 16.73 million tonne in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal, the port said.
Cargo demands to persist in ports: ICRA
Due to sluggish progress in iron ore and container volumes, cargo pressure will persist at major ports, said rating agency ICRA. Iron ore has been the main laggard in the first 5 months (April-August) of this fiscal year, ICRA said.
KTC road in Margao to be widened
To get its chapel shifted to Madel in Margao, Managing Committee of St Francis Xavier Chapel had been literally running from pillar to post. The Chapel wants to shift from the old market-KTC bus stand road to opposite the road at Madel and it is trying for the same for the post 12 years. Once the chapel shifted, it will pave the way for widening of the KTC bus stand road.
SCI to exit JV with Shapoorji Pallonji group
After its continuous losses, State-owned Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) has decided to exit its chemical carrier joint venture with Shapoorji Pallonji Group. The exit is part of a plan to trim losses at IndiaĂâs biggest ocean carrier, which faces the prospects of losing its so-called navaratna tag if it posts losses in the year to March 2014, which would be its third in a row.
India to build its 1st oil storage facility soon
To insulate itself from oil supply disruptions, India will build its first strategic oil storage facility by January,
Union Oil Minister M Veerappa Moily has said on September 28. India, which is 79 per cent dependent on imports to meet its crude oil needs, is building underground storages at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and Mangalore and Padur in Karnataka to store about 5.33 million tonne of crude oil, the Minister said.
Nod to 4-laning of h’way in Assam at Rs 522 cr
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has given its approval for four-laning of the Demow to Bogibil section of National Highway-37 in Assam under the Special Accelerated Road Development Programme in North Eastern Region (SARDP-NE) Phase ĂâAĂâ on Build, Operate and Transfer (BOT-Annuity) in Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer (DBFOT) pattern.
