The Union Ministry of Environment and ForestsĆā (MoEF) Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) will take up for review of the report of Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) on the Vizhinjam seaport project in Kerala. The Kerala government had submitted the Environment Impact Assessment report and related documents in August for obtaining environment clearance for the project.

The Inter Ministerial Group (IMG) in the Union government has completed its preparatory work for setting up a Amritsar-Delhi-Kolkata Corridor (ADKIC) and submitted its report to the government.
Haryana gets green signal for major road projects
The Union government has okayed major road projects in Haryana including a six-lane flyover along the national highway-8, construction of flyover at Bahalgarh Chowk and widening of a bridge near Rasoi village in Sonepat district, said the State Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on September 18.
Odisha to improve 2,158 km highways at Rs 3,000 cr
During the current 12th Plan period, the Odisha government has set a target to improve 2,158 km of State Highways to two-lane standards with a planned cost of Rs 3,000 crore.
Design okayed for signal-free ride on Noida road
To ensure signal-free ride on Noida city's 4.8 km-long elevated road, the Noida Authority has approved the design, Master Plan Road-II. The elevated road is one of the city's busiest road. Thousands of commuters on the elevated road are expected to benefit from implementation of the Plan, especially those in Sectors-30, 27, 26, 25, 31, 33, 23, 52, 58 and 61. Commuters now face long snarls, especially during peak hours.
River operating ships allowed in sea-waters to up trade
The Union Ministry of Shipping has issued an order to facilitate trade using inland waterways and mercantile marine activity along coasts. The Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has issued an order declaring waters inward of the baseline, as per the notification under Maritime Zone Act, as 'Inland Waters'.

Reviewing the progress of infrastructure projects worth Rs 1.6 lakk crore, the Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) on September 17 discussed about the ways to overcome hindrances that are delaying them. The projects reviewed were across key infrastructure sectors such as roads, power and petroleum, among others.

This tie-up with RCC is in support of cancer patients, the Kerala-based bank says. The bank helps individuals to be a member of RCC. A member, if diagnosed for cancer at some point in time in his life, can get advanced treatment almost for free.
Task force okays Rs 3,106 cr gas-based project in Odisha
Now decks have been cleared for establishment of a 423 mw gas-based power project in Odisha, the first of its kind in the state, at an investment of Rs 3,106 crore. JGreen Power has come forward with its proposal for the project. The company has a registered office at Balasore.
