Transport of coal via road may cause pollution
Citing adverse effect from pollution, TDP leader and former minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy opposed any move to transporting coal by road from the general cargo berth in Visakhapatnam Port. GAIL India and Paradip Port Trust may soon sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up an LNG terminal, most probably offshore at the port. GAIL (India), the largest state-owned gas processing and distribution company, proposes to set up an LNG terminal, most probably offshore, at the port.
NHAI to rework on model concession agreement
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to rework the model concession agreement (MCA) for highway projects that was redrafted just three years back after road developers sought changes to the model agreement amid a slowing economy. NHAI had asked developers, lenders, consultants and industry bodies to give their feedback on the current model concession agreement in the context of the changed economic scenario, said a senior official at NHAI.
Govt clears MIAL, Delhi Aerocity projects
The Mumbai International Airport project and the Delhi Aerocity project of huge hotel capacity in Delhi were cleared by the Centre on July 31. The Cabinet Committee on Investment (CCI) ordered Delhi Police to address issues related to area security and Delhi International Airport (DIAL) will be free to hire guards for perimeter security in and around the airport.
Govt asks CIL to supply coal for another 18K mw plants
The government has asked Coal India to supply fuel to an additional 18,000 megawatts of new thermal power capacity that will come up by March 2015, but the state firm feels it will not need to supply any additional coal.
