Madurai to repair ring road at Rs 50 lakh
To take up repairs on the Ring Road, the Madurai Corporation is spending Rs 50 lakh. The City Mayor VV Rajan Chellappa, along with Corporation Commissioner R Nanthagopal and senior engineers, inspected the work on May 15. According to a press release from the civic body, repair works are being done for the convenience of commuters and the general public.
VMC faces charges of using substandard material for road works
Vadodara Congress leaders have complanied that the contractors hired by Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) have been using substandard material for constructing roads in the city. They also leveled charges against VMC for alleged irregularities in road construction in Sama area.

In Bhubaneswar, the structural design of the proposed foot overbridges (FOB) has been sent to National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela for its examination. KNR Construction's subsidiary KNR Walayar has achieved financial closure of road project in Kerala, through public private partnership (PPP) on design, built, finance, operate and transfer toll basis. It has signed the financing documents with Central Bank of India, Bank of India, Corporation Bank, Canara Bank and Vijaya bank.
Kochi civic body to approach NHAI for flyover designs
The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) will be approached by the Kochi Corporation and ask it for designs of flyovers planned at Edappally, Vyttila and Palarivattom junctions in the city limits. Mayor Tony Chammany informed the council that he would take up the issue with NHAI project director CT Abraham.

In Nagaland, Dimapur's Deputy Commissioner N Hushili Sema has stated that the survey works for compensation of land and structure etc in regard to the extension of a 4 lane road in National Highway 39 from Patkai Bridge to Piphema has already been carried out by the departments concerned. A press note by the Deputy Commissioner stated that this was done in continuation of the earlier order issued on December 14, 2012.

Mundra port set to handle more cargo than Kandla port
