Govt awarded 58 port projects in PPP mode so far
Till March 31,2013, the government awarded 58 port development projects in Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode. Of these, 29 projects have been completed, 16 are at various stages of construction and the remaining 13 were awarded during 2012-
Govt considers 17 coal blocks for state-run firms
The union ministry of coal circulated 17 coal blocks for allocation to government companies out of which 14 are for specified end-use power and three coal blocks are earmarked for purpose of mining. These blocks would be allotted for eligible companies as per the ‘Auction by Competitive Bidding of Coal Mines Amendment Rules, 2012
Govt told to make CIL produce coal at allotted mines
Perturbed over the slow pace of development at 119 mines allocated to Coal India, a Parliamentary panel has asked the government to 'act swiftly' and ensure that CIL starts production there. With such a slow pace of work, the committee are unable to understand when the actual production from these coal blocks allocated to CIL will be started, the Standing Committee on Coal and Steel said in its report tabled in Parliament on April 24.
Govt committee says Adani port, SEZ flouted green norms
Adani Port and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has violated environmental clearance conditions, said a committee set up by the Union Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF). It recommended an environment restoration fund be formed to mitigate the damage. The fund, it said, should be worth one per cent of the project cost (including the cost of the thermal power plant), or Rs 200 crore, whichever was higher.

Steel output expands 6.5% in March
The country witnessed the fastest rate of growth in steel production during March in the last three months at 6.5 percent to 6.86 million tonne (mn t), data from the World Steel Association shows.
