Power Grid to issue Rs 4,000 cr bond in September
Power Grid (PGCIL) will raise Rs 4,000 crore via AAA-rated corporate bonds in September this year. The company has a mandate to raise Rs 14,000 crore for the year 2016-17 of which PGCIL has already issued financial bonds worth Rs 3,400 crore, last quarter.
Railway stations turn to solar energy
In order to reduce dependence on fossil fuels, the Ministry of Railways has planned to harness 1,000 MW of solar power through developer mode by putting up solar plants on railway buildings/stations and through land-based plants across the country.
Unit 1 of Parbati-III power station restored: NHPC
State-owned NHPC announced that Unit 1 of Parbati-III power station, which was shut down since March 28, 2015, has been restored. Located in Kullu district of Himachal Pradesh, the power station is a run-of-the-river scheme whose design discharge includes the diversion of the tail race releases of Parbati Stage-II Power house as well as inflows from river Sainj and Jiwa nallah.
TTPS Unit III resumes
Unit III of Tuticorin Thermal Power Station (TTPS), has resumed production after overhauling. Prior to resumption of production, safety valve floating test and other mandatory checks were carried out.
IndiaĂ´s Ease of Electricity rank jumped 29 points
India ranks 70 among 189 economies on ease of getting electricity due to positive reforms that have aided ease of doing business in the country, according to a latest report by The World Bank. India has jumped by a whopping 29 points from 99 last year, the report said.
Power crisis hits Bihar
Major parts of Bihar have been reeling under acute power crisis, as two power plants - Kanti Bijli Utpadan Nigam Limited (unit-1) in Muzaffarpur and NTPCĂ´s Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Plant (unit-5) in Bhagalpur - suspended operations due to technical reasons.
