According to a press release of the Chennai International Terminals (CITPL), the terminal caters to five mainline services to East Asia, two Colombo services and two coastal services.
The release further said that the terminal has a total of seven quay cranes (all twin lifts) and 18 rubber-tyred gantry cranes, which have more than doubled the handling capacity of the terminal.
On April 9, the terminal, which is owned and managed by PSA International, received the maiden call of Regional Container Lines (RCL) vessel Buxharmony, the release said.
The vesselÂ’s calling at the terminal represents the lineÂ’s collaboration as a new consortium partner on the India Far East Express service.
On April 10, CITPL also achieved a milestone in vessel productivity by handling 115 moves per hour during the shipÂ’s call, completing all moves within 17 hours.
