Govt okays financial closure for Jaipur Ring Road project

The Rajasthan government has given approval to financial closure for the long pending ring road project in Jaipur and is expected to begin soon. Once the letter is issued by the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), the contract company Sanjos Supreme will have to complete work in 21 months. The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) after examining the financial closure critically provided by the company submitted it to the State government for approval.

An official source said that the Urban Development and Housing (UDH) Minister, Shanti Dhariwal has sent back the financial closure file after approving it. A letter will be issued to the company soon, after that documentation process will be completed. The company will start the actual construction of road once the documentation process is complete.

So far, the company has done levelling of the land. The six-lane road project would involve an investment of Rs 890 crore and the JDA awarded the work to the company on July 28, 2011. Though documentation work is about to finish, it remains a challenge for JDA and the company to start the work at the site without resolving the matters with the farmers. Sources claim, the JDA might have to face penalty this time if possession of land is not provided to the company.

As per the first contract done by the JDA on June 24, 2011, JDA had to provide 60 per cent possession of land within 45 days. But it was only on June 15, 2012 that the JDA emailed the company giving 28.30 km (60 per cent) possession of land.
