Karaikal Port Private Limited (KPPL) handled the first Cape Size Vessel, MV Berge Mcclintock, signifying the company’s readiness for global competitiveness.

KPPL port processed 77,381 metric tonnes of steam coal for Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) using its fully automated system. The achievement came on the 13th anniversary of the port’s successful operations.

KPPL’s Chief Executive Officer, V. Raghunandan, told the media that the port was preparing to establish higher standards in the coming months.

Due to length, beam, and draught limits, only a few ports in India handle Cape size boats.

According to media sources, Karaikal Port’s capacity to accommodate large boats would greatly assist commerce by lowering freight costs and making it more competitive worldwide.

KPPL is India’s largest private all-weather deep water port to manage large vessels.
