Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is preparing detailed project reports (DPR) for construction of a common effluent treatment plant for 2,500 small industries in Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation areas.

This is part of a slew of civic amenity projects planned by the corporation. They include preparation of a city sanitation plan with provision for construction of toilets at busy places, solid waste management and garbage segregation.

The proposal for the construction of metro in the city has been sent to the state government for approval, reports suggest.

The civic body completed the first and second phases of the drainage works under JNNURM at a cost of Rs 178.99 crore. The works include construction of five sewage treatment plant. The e-governance project under the JNNURM scheme worth Rs 9 crore was completed last year, the civic chief said. The second phase of water supply scheme under JNNURM was completed in March this year, he added.

Besides, the corporation planned to set up a 3,000-capacity auditorium on the lines of Pune’s Ganesh Kala Krida Manch. It is in the process of identifying sites, completing land acquisition, making budgetary provision and appointing architects for the projects.
