Govt is striving to give CBI all documents in coal blocks case
The Union Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal has stated in the Rajya Sabha recently that the government will make every effort to locate and supply the additional documents required by CBI regarding allocation of coal blocks. Coal Ministry has already handed over 769 files and other documents consisting of more than 1,50,000 pages to CBI. NTPC Darlipali project in Odisha is acquiring land: Govt
The Union Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya M Scindia told the the Rajya Sabha recently that the upcoming Darlipali Project (2x800 mw) in Odisha is in the process of land acquisition by the State government. The process of environment and forest clearance of the project as well as its linked Dulanga coal mine from Ministry of Environment of Forests (MoEF) is also in progress.
Govt divests stake in NTPC
Government of India has divested 9.5 per cent stake of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) through Offer for Sale (OFS) mechanism. After the completion of OFS on February 11, governmentÂ’s equity holding in NTPC has now come down from 84.50 per cent to 75.00 per cent, said the Union Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya M. Scindia in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha recently.
Govt allocates Rs 1,521 cr for renewable energy in 2013-14
The Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah has said that a gross budgetary support (GBS) of Rs 1,521 crore has been provided to the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) during 2013-14, in comparison to GBS of Rs 1,385 crore and Revised Estimates of Rs 1,150 crore during 2012-13, for development and promotion of renewable energy activities. He said this in the Rajya Sabha on April 22.
New policy soon for growth of aviation sector
For a new policy of sustainable and orderly growth of aviation sector in the country, the Union Civil Aviation Ministry has prepared a white paper, the Rajya Sabha was told on March 22. To have a sustainable and orderly growth of the aviation sector, the Ministry has felt the need to spell out a long-term Civil Aviation Policy to address various issues related to the sector, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation KC Venugopal said.
Rs 87,176 cr needed for adding 10,897 mw hydro power
The Minister of State for Power Jyotiraditya M Scindia said in Rajya Sabha on March 19 that the generation target from various conventional hydro sources for the first year i.e. 2012-13 of the 12th Plan period has been fixed as 122.045 billion unit (bu). Hydro generation of 104.937 bu has been achieved against the target of 114.048 bu upto February, 2013.
Govt targets to add 30,000 mw renewable energy
The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy is targeting a capacity addition of 30,000 mw during the 12th Plan period (2012-17) from various renewable energy sources, This was stated by the Union Minister for New & Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah in the Rajya Sabha on March 11.
AAI spends over Rs 34 cr on non-operational airports
In the last three years, Airports Authority of India (AAI) has spent over Rs 34 crore on maintenance of 31 non-operational airports in the country. Apart from the 31 non-operational airports, there are 45 defence airports, 83 state government airports and five private air strips lying unused, KC Venugopal, Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation told the Rajya Sabha last week.
Centre seeks land for new Patna international airport
The Union Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh has said on March 7 that the Union government plans to build a new international airport at Bihta, outside Patna, but availability of land from the State government is an issue. Stating this in Rajya Sabha, he said since there is little scope for expansion of the Patna airport, a new facility is being proposed outside Bihar's capital city.
