The project will supply nearly 299 million units of clean electricity each year to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution.
Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), a subsidiary of The Tata Power Co. Ltd, has commissioned its 100.8 MW Jewali Wind Project in Dharashiv district, Maharashtra. The electricity generated will be supplied to Tata Power Mumbai Distribution, contributing to its Renewable Purchase Obligation (RPO) targets and advancing its transition to a sustainable utility.
The project comprises 28 SG 3.6‑145 wind turbine generators based on advanced horizontal‑axis technology. It is expected to generate approximately 299 million units (kWh) of clean electricity annually, offsetting nearly 245 million kg of carbon dioxide emissions each year.
With this commissioning, TPREL’s wind portfolio now exceeds 3.9 GW, including more than 1.3 GW of operational capacity, with the balance under development across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
The project also supports Tata Power’s vision of achieving 100 per cent clean energy generation by 2045. With Jewali added, TPREL’s total renewable utility capacity has reached 11.6 GW. Of this, 6.7 GW is operational—5.4 GW solar and 1.3 GW wind—while 4.9 GW is under implementation. The under‑construction portfolio includes 2.1 GW of solar, 2.6 GW of wind, and 0.2 GW of battery energy storage systems (BESS), scheduled for phased commissioning over the next 24 months.
