The Andhra Pradesh government would soon approach the World Bank for financial assistance for its
road upgradation projects in various parts of the state, especially in rural areas.
The state government plans to seek a Rs 1,000-crore credit line from the World Bank once the proposal receives approval from the state cabinet.
Once the World Bank sanctions this fund, the state government would be able to strengthen rural road network. This will add to the work taken up by roads and buildings and panchayati raj departments.
State Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy said that the state government will directly pitch for the loan assistance to strengthen the road network impacted by floods in the state.
The project includes two broad components — Rs 530-crore support for Panchayati Raj roads and Rs 470 crore for Roads and Buildings Department.
This will be a direct state proposed project for funding by the World Bank.
