Engineering major Larsen & Toubro expects to bag at least two thermal projects out of the 12 which are likely to come up for bidding over the next one year, a senior company official has said. ´Both the Centre and State governments are likely to invite bids for at least 12 projects over the next one year with an estimated capacity between 1,300 and 1,500 MW each, which were stalled due to various reasons, and we hope to bag at least two from them,´ said L&T Director (power, metals and minerals division) Shailendra Roy. ´Infrastructure is a prerequisite for economic growth. The government is rightly looking at building infrastructure and this requires building more capacities. We expect nearly 20 power projects to come up for bidding in the next 18 months,´ he added. Roy said the Centre and States will not adopt a piecemeal approach for these projects, which instead are most likely to be offered as one EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) project to ensure speedy completion.
