BHEL has bagged a contract worth Rs 7,900 crore related to 1,980 MW thermal power project in Jharkhand. The contract, won through international competitive bidding, is for NTPCĂ´s 1,980 MW North Karanpura super thermal power project. The plant will have three units, each having a generation capacity of 660 MW. Agreement signed for DMIC phase-I
The Centre and the Maharashtra government have signed the state support agreement (SSA) and shareholders agreement (SA) for the first phase of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC).
NHAI to float bids for road projects in TN
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will float bids for three important road projects in Tamil Nadu. These roads will connect Rameswaram reducing the travel time to the pilgrim island by road. NHAI has so far completed work in the 90 km stretch in the two-lane highway between Tiruchi and Ramanathapuram via Karaikudi. This highway with paved shoulders on NH 210 has been executed at a cost of Rs 374 crore.
GMR bags its maiden railway project
A consortium led by GMR Infrastructure has won its maiden railway project. The Rs 267 crore projects involve construction of rail line doubling between Jhansi and Bhimsen stations in Uttar Pradesh. GMR is the lead member of the consortium with Tata Projects and Kalindee Rail Nirman as the partner for OHE and track works, S&T works respectively. The project is scheduled to commence from 2 April 2014.
ADB loan to three projects
The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed loan agreements worth about $605 million (around Rs 3,760 crore) for three separate projects to better rail services, power and roads in the country.
In-principle approval for Pune Metro
The Union government accorded an in-principle approval for the Pune metro plan. The project will cover 31.51 km along two corridors-PCMC building to Swargate and Vanaz to Ramwadi. The approval will enable the state to start for the early implementation of the project through a special purpose vehicle, equally and jointly owned by the Centre and the state government. However, the approval is not a prior approval for the project in part or whole for financial assistance.
APSEZ highest bidder at Ennore port
The Adani Ports & Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) has emerged as the highest bidder to construct a container terminal at the Ennore Port. The company offered highest revenue for the planned Rs 1,270 crore project, compared to DP World which was the runner. Third company, Singapore Port Authority (SPA) did not participate in the final financial bid. Totally 11 firms have shown interest in the technical bid, however only three firms came to financial bid, according to a port official.
LNG floating storage unit off TN coast
A Rs 3,500-crore LNG Floating Storage and Re-gasification Unit (FSRU), related port infrastructure and a power plant are to be established in the southern coast of Tamil Nadu. According to sources, Eurostar Kirtilals will soon enter into an agreement with Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (Tidco) for a joint venture to set up the project in Nagapattinam.
Dighi Port fund raise
Dighi Port located in Raigad district of Maharashtra is scouting for investors to raise around Rs 200 crore for portĂ´s expansion. The company is raising capital to complete the first phase of port development, after which the total installed capacity of the port will be around 30 million tonne. The fund raise will be aided by IL and FS Transportation Networks, an investor in Dighi Port.
Foundation stone for DP Worlds new terminal at JNPT
A major milestone in the development of the new DP World terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port was achieved with the ceremonial laying of the foundation stone by the Minister of Shipping GK Vasan.
