From private equity (PE) investors, Shriram Equipment Finance Company (SEFC) is mulling to raise about Rs 150-200 crore and rope in strategic investors. SEFC is a subsidiary of Shriram Transport Finance Corporation, which has an asset base of about Rs 56,000 crore.

L&T Shipbuilding bags Qatar firm order for Rs 943 cr
Larsen & Toubro's subsidiary, L&T Shipbuilding on December 12 said it has received a repeat order for six specialised commercial vessels valued at USD154 million (INR943 crore), from a Qatar-based firm.
PIL plea dismissed for transfer of US vessel
A public interest litigation (PIL) seeking transfer of the US ship case from the Tamil Nadu ĂâQĂâ Branch police to the National Investigation Agency (NIA) or the Central Bureau Investigation (CBI) was dismissed by the Madras High Court Bench in Madurai on December 12.
Cargo throughput up by 2.59% to 277 mt
In India's major ports the cargo throughput grew 2.59 per cent to 277 million tonne (mt) in first half of the present financial thanks to the growth at Ennore, Paradip and New Mangalore, said the agency Icra on December 11. Coal imports, petroleum oil and lubricants (POL), and fertilisers drove the volume growth, while iron ore and container volume dragged the overall growth, Icra said.
BMC to implement area-wise parking rates
In Mumbai, a graded 'pay and park' scheme is to be implemented by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for the city suburbs within a month. BMC observed that the rates have jumped up to three times as ban on paid parking within 100 m of educational institutions and introduce permits for residents for street parking in the city.
Jaipur’s roads face lack of green cover
Rajasthan's capital Jaipur has no sufficient green cover. As per the Master Plan 2025, the city should have the mandatory 20 per cent green cover, but it has only 11.3 per cent of its area under green cover. As per Master Plan 25, the entry roads from Delhi, Ajmer, Sikar and Agra supposed to have green corridor of 30 to 45 metre on either side of the approach.
L&T to raise funds for its infra unit
To raise capital for its L&T Infrastructure Development Projects, the unit that builds roads, ports and other infrastructure, Larsen and Toubro (L&T), IndiaĂâs biggest engineering company, is in talks with investors. The company is considering raising money from investors including sovereign and infrastructure funds by March.

As many agencies are digging up roads in Hyderabad, traffic problems continue to bother the citizens in the city. Private telecom companies and government agencies like the Water Board and the APCPDCL are digging roads in the city for their works.
Manipur to build ring road to Imphal at Rs 240 cr
For construction of the proposed ring road of Greater Imphal at a cost of Rs 240 crore, the Manipur government has started the necessary groundwork. On December 11, the State Works Minister Kh Ratankumar, along with an inspection team, inspected the potential route for the proposed ring road for the State capital.
Panel likely to bring hope for road developers
The report by the C Rangarajan headed committee, set up by the Cabinet to decide on premium payments for road projects awarded in the last two-three years on a public-private partnership basis, is expected to submit its report soon.
