World Bank, ADB to give $313 mn to cyclone-hit Odisha
To take up restoration and rehabilitation activities in cyclone Phailin hit areas, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank have assured a financial assistance of $313 million to Odisha government. Representatives of the two international funding agencies met the State Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in the capital Bhubaneswar on November 13.
India to extend 1.5 bn to Bhutan for development works
For various development works in Bhutan, Indian government will provide funds worth Rs 1.5 billion to Bhutanese government. Bhutan's economic body Gross National Happiness Commission on November 13 signed 10 cheques of Rs 1.5 billion with Indian government officials.
Tata Steel posts Rs 917 cr net on improved biz
In the second quarter, Tata Steel on November 13 reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 917 crore against a net loss of Rs 364 crore a year ago, mainly because of improved share in the domestic market coupled with better pricing and rising volume in its largest market, Europe.
TPG to buy a big stake in Karaikal Port for Rs 1000 cr
US-based private equity (PE) firm TPG Capital India is set to buy a majority stake in Karaikal Port Pvt Ltd. TPG has entered into a so-called exclusivity agreement with the port and will invest at least Rs 1,000 crore to acquire stake from existing investors and promoters.
Dip in Railways’ October freight load
For Indian Railways, October proved to be a bad month in freight loading. There was a drop of 1.67 million tonne during the month. The reason was major freight loading zonal railways were hit by the inclement weather, particularly cyclone Phailin.
Coimbatore civic body to restore 170 km of roads
The Coimbatore Municipal Corporation is to carry out restoration work on 169.1 km of roads across 60 wards in old corporation limits that were dug up as part of laying underground drainage pipelines under the JNNURM project since 2010.

On the busy old Pune-Mumbai Highway, road widening work of an accident-prone narrow stretch from Nigdi to Dehu Road is expected to start soon. The road widening work was stalled since 2006 which caused extreme inconvenience to commuters.
