Odisha entrusts Rs 1,293 cr road project to L&T
The Odisha government has entrusted a road project, estimated to cost at Rs 1,293 crore, to L&T Infrastructure Development Projects (L&T IDPL). The contract is awarded on a build-operate-transfer basis. L&T IDPL has sought a grant of Rs 465.30 crore for four-laning of the 161.73 km Sambalpur-Rourkela section of the State highway.
Kanpur’s Dada Nagar ROB to be opened to commuters
Kanpur people will soon get a Rail Over Bridge in Dada Nagar. The construction of the bridge is almost complete and it will soon be opened for the public use. Once the bridge is ready and opened for the people, it will come as a huge relief for the people who, at present, have to cross the railway line.
Govt to expand 6 minor ports to up cargo transport
By 2015, the Kerala government has chalked out an action plan to shift 20 per cent of road cargo movement to coastal shipping. The State government would expand 6 minor ports to enhance coastal shipping services in the first phase. The government said that seven per cent of the total cargo movement is through coastal shipping.
Govt plans roads regulator before Budget FY15
Before the next Union Budget 2014-15, the Union government is considering putting in place a regulator for the road sector. The government would also review the target of awarding 8,000 km of road projects this year.

Work on Kannur airport to begin soon
In Kerala, construction of Kannur International Airport will begin within two weeks as the tender for the construction was awarded to Larsen & Toubro on November 7. The airport is the second public/private partnership airport to be developed and will be 49 per cent funded by private individuals and organisations.
Sanmar to raise Rs 250 cr to cut its debt
To cut its promoters' debt and expand its chemical business, Chennai-based chemicals-to engineering conglomerate Sanmar group will raise Rs 250 crore from American private equity fund Kohlberg Kravis Roberts (KKR).
Aurangabad civic body to take up repairs on 18 roads
Aurangabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has stated that it would soon start construction of eighteen roads in the city. In the first phase, the municipal body will carry out repairing and resurfacing of these roads with an investment of Rs 15 crore.
