While addressing the Annual Conclave of Indian Ambassadors and High Commissioners in Delhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said on November 4 that economic integration has become a crucial element in India's evolving foreign policy. JSWĂâs Vijayanagar plant to run at full capacity
Due to iron ore supply issues, JSW SteelĂâs Vijayanagar plant in Karnataka is currently running at 85 per cent capacity utilisation level. While the Supreme Court has approved the opening of 115 Category A and B iron ore mines in Karnataka, only 15 are up and running.
JSW mulls to set up 5,000 retail shops in taluks
In the next five years, JSW Steel plans to open as many as 5,000 shops to sell custom-made steel to tap demand in rural and semi-urban India. The company believes that rising incomes in both rural and semi-urban areas in the country have boosted construction of homes and non-food spending.
Japan govt spots Ennore Port as logistic hub
Ennore Port in Tamil Nadu has stated that Japanese government has identified it (Ennore Port) as a logistic hub in Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor and Japan International Cooperation Agency has begun a study in this regard, say media reports.
Seven firms qualify for Rs 8,000-cr JNPT terminal bid
In bidding for the Rs 8,000-crore fourth container terminal at Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust, the Essar Ports has failed to qualify as it fell short of the value of work done in the past to meet the criteria. Sources said that Essar Ports has not been qualified for the terminal project as per the Central Vigilance Commission set guidelines.

The proposed second major port in Andhra Pradesh at Duggarajupatnam has been opposed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) since the beginning. Isro opposed the port proposal at at Duggarajupatnam because of its close proximity to the space centre or spaceport at Sriharikota.
Vasan visits Japan to promote Indian ports
To discuss about increased utilisation of Indian ports, especially Chennai and Ennore, by Japan's business companies, the Union Shipping Minister GK Vasan, along with a delegation, is to discuss with the Japanese government and business community there. Vasan is scheduled to be in Japan from November 7 to 12 at the invitation of Akihiro Ohta, Japan Minister of Land, Infrastructure Transport and Tourism.
