Kerala delays road widening work for 20-yrs

In Kerala, the authorities of Public Works Department has been delaying the widening of the SN Junction-Puthiyakavu stretch on the Ernakulam-Kottayam State highway for more than 22 years. The PWD officials mooted the plan to widen the road in 1991. As per the proposal, it would develop the 12-metre wide road to 33 metre.

Train crossings take place on this arterial road over 25 times a day, mostly at night. With the Tiruchi Road remaining closed, all vehicles have to take the Dindigul Road to enter or leave Manapparai.
