Microfinance institutions’ loan portfolio rises 23%
As per a report by the Microfinance Institutions Network (MFIN) the gross loan portfolio (GLP) of microfinance institutions (MFIs) rose to 23 per cent across the country in 2012-13 with AP MFIs growing 7 per cent and non-AP MFIs witnessing a growth of 39 per cent.

Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor HR Khan has said that the RBI is looking at conducting open market operations (OMO) after assessing the government's cash balance, RBI will assess the liquidity situation and then see what the government balance is, whether it is short term or long term. Vizhinjam to become India’s deepest port

Absence of safety measures lead to killing of pillion rider
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) on May 27 admitted that no safety measures were planned at the Indiranagar underpass of Nashik, where a 22-year-old was killed on May 25. Pankaj Shinde of Yashaswi apartment, Tornanagar, was killed when the motorcycle he was riding pillion was knocked down by an unidentified vehicle at the recently constructed Indiranagar underpass beneath the city's iconic 5.6-km flyover on the Mumbai-Agra highway during the wee hours of Saturday.

Work starts on flyover in Lucknow near ex-CM’s house
Work has started on a flyover at Mall Avenue, which had raised the hackles of BSP supremo Mayawati as it would pass near her residence and party office. The flyover, to be constructed by Uttar Pradesh Bridges Corporation at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore, would be 15 m wide, 650 m long and would be completed in 15 months, official sources said.
