‘Work is progressing on Delhi’s RTR flyover project’

Delhi Public Works Department Minister Raj Kumar Chauhan has stated that work on the Rao Tula Ram (RTR) Marg flyover in the city was progressing as per the plan. The Department is working on the detailed plan which will be submitted to Delhi Urban Arts Commission (DUAC). Once it clears it, the project will be sent to the Cabinet and the tender process will follow next, the Minister said.

J-K to seek Rs 582-cr from Centre for roads and buildings

For its roads and buildings sector, Jammu and Kashmir government would seek Rs 568.92 crore from the Centre towards completion of several ongoing projects. The decision to apply for central aid under the State Plan Assistance (SPA) scheme was taken at a high-level meeting in Srinagar on May 29. The meeting was chaired by the State Roads and Buildings Minister Abdul Majid Wani.

Mayor of Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) Surendra Furtado has written to the Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) demanding details of the proposed bridge between Panaji and Betim. In a letter to GSIDC Managing Director Sanjit Rodrigues, Furtado has sought all details including traffic plans if any worked out since the ferry wharf area is very crowded.

Antony asks BRO to pace up roads along border areas

The Defence Minister AK Antony has asked the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) to look at other public sector companies and even private companies to expedite road construction along the frontier with China. Roads needed by security forces along border with China have been delayed by five to seven years. The BRO, a body under the Ministry of Defence, is tasked with laying down roads in the Himalayas, especially those needed for strategic purposes.

The Punjab government on May 29 approved the revised toll policy aimed at the rationalisation in the toll rates besides enhancing the user acceptability in the state. For Goa's Industrial Investment Policy, a State-government appointed taskforce has suggested industries like aviation, aero space, IT and ITES, pharma and integrated educational hubs. A World Bank report has stated that as many as 1.2 billion people - almost the population of India - don't have access to electricity and 2.8 billion have to rely on wood or other biomass to cook and heat their homes. Govt may limit premium airline seats

The Union government is likely to limit the number of seats that an Indian carrier can sell to passengers through pre-booking for a fee to 15 per cent to 20 per cent of the aircraft capacity. The aviation ministry is planning to ask airlines to limit this to the front and emergency row seats that have more legroom and the window and aisle seats of the second to fifth or sixth row.
