Jakson Power to invest Rs 750 cr on solar power, others
In the next three to four years, diversified group Jakson Power Solutions is to invest about Rs 750 crore primarily in its solar business. Besides solar energy, the firm would be investing in EPC, generating sets and hospitality, where its foray is likely to happen by the end of this year.
Delhi’s VIP areas to get cheaper power
The Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) has decided to give relief to VIP areas under the New Delhi Municipal Council. Such VIP areas will have to pay less for electricity from June to August. The decision was taken before the DERC was to start public hearings for determining power tariff in the city.

Belarusian nuke plant to get rebar supply from BMZ
Byelorussian Steel Works said that it plans to supply more than 19,000 tonne of rebar in 2013 for the new Belarusian nuclear power plant which is currently under construction. BMZ expects its rebar supplies for the plant in May to total 2,150 tonne. Previously, BMZ produced and supplied rebar for the Voronezh nuclear power station and for the nuclear power station in Smolensk.

Jindal Power projects in Arunachal face hindrances
In Arunachal Pradesh, the three hydro power projects of more than 5,000 mw capacity, undertaken by Naveen JindalĆās Jindal Power (JPL), are likely to take at least 10 more years to get commissioned. This is mainly on account of delays in getting regulatory approvals and funding. The proposed run-of-the-river projects, with envisaged investments of nearly Rs 50,000 crore, include the 3,097 mw Etalin project, the 680 mw Attunli project and the 1,600 mw project at middle Subansiri.
Jindal, IL&FS keen to partner NMDC for UP power plant
Jindal Power and IL&FS Energy Development Company have individually evinced interest to partner NMDC in setting up a 2X250 mw thermal power plant in Uttar Pradesh at an estimated cost of Rs 2,000 crore. Jindal Power and IL&FS Energy Development Company have shown interest to be a joint venture partner of NMDC for its proposed power plant in Uttar Pradesh.
Delhi CM asks Ambani to supply power round-the-clock
The Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has asked Anil Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Infrastructure, which runs two power distribution companies, to take steps to 'rectify' the power outage problem in the city and ensure round-the-clock electricity supply. The Delhi CM is worried about the long power outages, especially before the assembly polls. CIL raises prices by 5%, power tariffs may go up
Coal India (CIL) has increased prices by 4.7 per cent on average, a move that power producers say is likely to lead to an increase in power tariffs by 7 paise per unit to 45 paise. CIL on Tuesday reduced prices of two premium varieties of coal by 12 per cent while increasing prices of the rest, barring one, by 10 per cent. It had last increased prices in January 2011.
