Two main roads-Bannerghatta road and Goods Shed Road in Bangalore are going to be widened. The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) has taken up work on the two roads on a priority basis and has hastened land acquisition process for the purpose.

Centre okays Rs 1,756 cr worth h’way project in Gujarat
In Gujarat, Rs 1,756 crore worth 209.89 km Gadu-Dwarka section of National Highway-8E road project has been approved by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA). The project is to upgrade the highway into four/two laning under the National Highways Development Project (NHDP) Phase IV.
Nagpur Mayor insists for road repairs before Diwali
Nagpur Mayor Anil Sole has taken the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) officials to a task at a review meeting and threatened them that he would complete road repair works with the help of citizens if the officials fail to complete the job at the earliest.
Rajasthan to form squads to check road works
In Rajasthan, the State Public Works Department (PWD) has decided to form flying squads to inspect the quality of road works in the state. A total of 10 flying squads will be formed. These teams will check to conform the roads made as per the norms laid down for quality control.
Rescheduling for road projects cleared
The Union Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has cleared premium rescheduling of road projects (means, postponement of premium payments by highway developers) and referred the matter to a panel for fine-tuning. The move could help infrastructure majors such as GMR and GVK whose projects were facing delays on account of high premium.
ACC launches concrete for road repairs
A ready-to-use, fast-setting concrete has been made by ACC Concrete company for repairing bitumen and concrete roads to get them ready for traffic within a day of repair. Anil Banchhor, Chief Executive-Concrete Business, ACC said roads repaired with Ultra Thin White Topping can be opened for traffic within 24 hours.
Work to begin on hill highway in Kasargod at Rs 5 cr
In Kerala's Kasargod district, construction on a hill highway will begin this year with Rs 5 crore. The road project is to connect Thiruvananthapuram from Nandarapadavu in the northern tip and pass through Perla, Badiadukka, Mullaria, and Chalingal.
Rs 64.16 cr Nabard loan to Haryana road projects
A loan of Rs 64.16 crore to Haryana has been sanctioned by the National Bank for Rural and Agriculture Development (Nabard) Haryana regional office for six rural road projects under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) in 2013-14.
TN likely to get Rs 8,583 cr for road works
The Tamil Nadu government is likely to get Rs 8,583 crore for various road projects of 1,678 km of length. The road works are expected to commence from next year, Rajeev Ranjan, Principal Secretary, Highways and Minor Ports, said in Chennai on October 7.
Land acquired for widening of Stadium Link Road in Kochi
