These agreements form part of the port’s ongoing efforts to consolidate operations, drive waterfront development, and optimise asset utilisation.

In his keynote address, Sonowal highlighted Mumbai Port’s historic role in shaping the city’s rise from a harbour to India’s financial capital. He said, “Every achievement of the institution is the collective contribution of its officers, employees, workers, port users and other stakeholders.” He added that the port continues to create new opportunities in investment, tourism, logistics, and energy security, citing initiatives such as the International Cruise Terminal, ferry jetty projects, Jawahar Dweep reclamation, and energy infrastructure.

Thakur noted that Mumbai Port has served trade, industry, and the maritime community for more than 150 years, emphasising its responsibility in India’s journey towards Viksit Bharat 2047.

Vijay Kumar, Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, pointed to the port’s highest‑ever cargo throughput of 70 million tonnes and stressed the importance of stakeholder collaboration in driving growth, efficiency, and service excellence.

M Angamuthu, Chairperson, said the foundation day was an occasion to honour Mumbai Port Authority’s long service to the nation and acknowledge the contribution of all those associated with it.
