GSPC, BG India for long-term LNG supply
Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) entered into a preliminary agreement with BG India, subsidiary of the BG Group, for the long-term supply of up to 2.5 million tonne per annum (mtpa) of liquefied natural gas (LNG). The agreement will help GSPC bridge the widening demand-supply deficit, both in Gujarat and across India
Tata Power to run Mundra UMPP at low capacity
Tata Power Company is preparing contingency plans to minimise loss from running the plant as the cost of imported coal from Indonesia has risen sharply. The company plans to run the 4,000-MW Mundra unit at low capacity, at around 72-78 percent, and is considering blending the fuel with cheĆĀaper coal of low calorific value to reduce cost of generation.
Second phase of e-Gram project
The e-Gram project the of Gujarat government, which has so far covered 13,700 villaĆĀges, is all set to begin its second phase soon. Airtel, which is a partner in the project, has chaĆĀlked out the second phase plan. Of the total over 18,000 villages in the state, 13,700 have already been covered while in the second phase aims at covering the remaining villages.
