Nod given to Kannur geenfield airport project: Minister
The Union government has granted 'in-principle' approval for setting up of a greenfield airport at Kannur in Kerala. The project is to be implemented on Build Own and Operate (BOO) model, said the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, KC Venugopal in the Lok recently.
Rs 1,700 cr Kannur airport to be ready by 2015 end
Kerala's fourth international airport at Kannur would open in December 2015, the State's Excise and Shipping Minister K Babu, who is also in charge of the airport project, said on July 13. Seven companies have been shortlisted in the pre-qualification bid for building the airport, which is coming up in an area of around 2,000 acres and is expected to cost Rs 1,700 crore.
Govt to reject bid of ABG Group
Media reports indicate that the Kerala government decided to reject the sole bid of ABG Group to develop a cement terminal at Azhikkal port in Kannur at a cost of Rs 120 crore. Reports indicate that the government decided to reject the bid on certain technical grounds including disagreement on the revenue share offered by the company
Panel recommends green nod to Kannur airport
At the Centre, a high-level Environment Ministry panel has recommended granting green clearance to the proposed international airport at north KeralaÂ’s Kannur district. The decision to recommend the environmental clearance for the airport was taken at the recent meeting of the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) for Building Construction, Coastal Regulation Zone, Infrastructure Development and Miscellaneous projects.
