By the end of this month, commuter will be able to zip to Chembur from south Mumbai in about 15 minutes. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) will open a portion of the Eastern Freeway from Orange Gate to Panjarpol. The remaining part up to Ghatkopar-Mankhurd Link Road (GMLR) will be opened early next year.

Road repairs on hold in Mumbai
The Brihamumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is a dilemma whether it should award major road repair works in the city to a blacklisted contractor. As a result, major road repairs in south Mumbai have been put on hold. RPS Infraprojects (formerly RP Shah), a company blacklisted by the building proposal department in 2010, has submitted the lowest bid for a basket of projects estimated to cost Rs 275 crore.
