Huda sets up new pipeline to raise water supply

The areas facing water shortage in Sector 16 of New Gurgaon areas will get an additional water supply of 5-6 million gallons daily (mn gd) water as the Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) laid 2 km long 1,200-mm water pipeline.

The pipeline would facilitate additional water supply to the Sector 16 boosting station. The engineers of Huda conducted trial run for a couple of days to flush out the dirty water and clean the pipeline.

The 1,200-mm pipeline will receive 5-6 mn gd water from the Basai water plant, the main source of water till date in the city.

The New Gurgaon localities such as DLF, South City, Ardee City, Sushant Lok and several other areas face acute water crisis every summer.

From the Sector 16 boosting station, three main pipelines branch out — one towards Cyber City, second along MG Road and third towards Huda City Centre Metro station.

The residents of New Gurgaon, who presently receive 17-19 mn gd water from the Sector 16 boosting station, will get nearly 25 mn gd water owing to this pipeline.
