Karnataka Minister for Public Works Department H C Mahadevappa has said that the state government has proposed a 18 km Green Bypass Project costing Rs 2,200 crore. The funding is planned through assistance from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) as a permanent solution to improve the condition of the Shiradi ghat road stretch.

Nashik Phata flyover to be inaugurated on 22 January
After six monthsĂâ delay, the much-awaited two-tier Nashik Phata flyover in Pune is finally expected to be inaugurated on 22 January 2014. The flyover is the first-of-its-kind project in India crossing the Pavana river at 206 m and rail overbridge (ROB) at 110 m.Built at an investment of around Rs 140 crore, the flyover is well connected to the IT hub at Hinjawadi and the upcoming Chakan airport.

More than 3,000-km highway projects yet to take off
More than 3,000 km of highway projects awarded about two years back under the public private partnership (PPP) mode are yet to take off. Both government and private parties are to blame for this mess. The reason for this delay can be attributed to government bodies for delay in taking policy decisions, banks who have become more stringent while sanctioning loans and are asking for 100% land availability as a pre-condition, dip in economic growth leading to decrease in traffic flow.
