In Chennai, a new road over bridge (ROB) is to be constructed across the railway track at Periyar Nagar on the Thiruvanaikovil Trunk Road. The ROB construction is to be taken up by the Tamil Nadu State Highways Department and it is set to call tenders next month for the same. The Rail Vikas Nigam, a public sector undertaking, will construct the Railway portion of the proposed ROB, say sources in the State department.

Proposal to build 2 road under bridges remains on paper
Four years after holding public hearings, the Tamil Nadu State Highways DepartmentÂ’s proposals to construct two road under bridges (RUBs) to replace level crossings in Chennai's Annamalai Nagar and Wimco remain only in paper. Thiruvottiyur residents are irked over inordinate delay in taking up the RUB work which would cut down travelling time for the people living in western parts of the locality.
TN implementing road infra projects worth Rs 10k cr
The Tamil Nadu State Highways Department is implementing road infrastructure improvement projects at a cost of Rs 10,000 crore, The State Minister for Highways and Minor Ports Department Edappady K Palaniswami, said in Coimbatore on January 7.
