The service road from Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) to Vatika chowk will be widened and repaired with the placement of a median to facilitate two-way traffic movement in Gurugram.

The Vatika Chowk has emerged as one of the most congested junctions in Gurugram.

The building of the Sohna elevated road, which is supposed to unclog Sohna Road, has further worsened traffic congestion.

The traffic police held a meeting with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to tackle snarls at Vatika Chowk, which is constructing the Sohna elevated road for improving traffic flow at the junction.

DCP (traffic) RS Tomar told the media that they have deployed policemen at the junction in three shifts of eight hours each to minimise snarls.

Tomar said commuters are requested to start a bit early to reach their destination on time till this civil work is done.

The people living in the new sectors developed along the SPR have complained several times about frequent traffic jams at the Vatika Chowk.

It takes a long time to cross this road section. The junction is congested all the time, said Sarita Sharma, a resident of Sector 65.
